Gratin Dauphinois

Serves: 2 to (4)
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 1 hour
Ingredients:
600g (1000g) potatoes
80g (150g) Gruyere cheese
50g (80g) creme fraiche
20g (30g) butter
200ml (500ml) milk
1 (1) garlic clove
1 (1) pinch nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste

MAGIMIX 4200:
Serves: 6
Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
Ingredients:
1500g potatoes
180g Gruyere cheese
120g creme fraiche
45g butter
750ml milk
1 garlic clove
1 pinch nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste

MAGIMIX 5200:
Serves: 8
Preparation Time: 35 minutes
Cooking Time:1 hour  5 minutes
Ingredients:
2000g potatoes
200g Gruyere cheese
160g creme fraiche
60g butter
1000ml milk
1 garlic clove
1 pinch nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste

Method (all models):
  1. Grate cheese with the 2mm grating disc.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Peel potatoes.
  4. Cut potatoes into thin slices using the 2mm slicing disc.
  5. Preheat oven to 180°C (gas mark 4).
  6. Peel garlic and cut in half.
  7. Rub an oven dish with the garlic, then butter it.
  8. Cover bottom of dish with a layer of the sliced potato.
  9. Add some cheese, salt and pepper, a little creme fraiche.
  10. Repeat until all ingredients have been used up, ending with a layer of grated cheese.
  11. Stir nutmeg into the milk and pour over the preparation.
  12. Bake and serve straight from the oven.
Check potato is cooked by pressing in a knife... you should feel no resistance.
